Ambiguity is Ruining You

As a leader, you'll have to master the art of communication.

If you can't communicate your values and your heart, than you won't be able to convey your instructions into motivation for your people to take action.

Leaders have to communicate clearly and you have to establish solid standards. You can't be murky or you'll get murky results.

If your people are confused then you'll be confused when you see their results.

How Do You Know That You Can Be a Leader?

As a leadership coach and speaker, I always encounter many confident people, who have strong convictions, that know they're calling, and try their best to answer that calling.

But at the same time, I encounter a ton of people who are not so confident, don't really have any convictions, and because they don't know they're calling, they can't really live a life of purpose.

One of the main mindsets blocking the second category of people is their limiting belief that some have leadership potential and some don't; You're either born with it or you're not?

Nothing could be further from the truth.

What do you expect?

I just finished reading Start: Punch Fear in the Face by Jon Acuff and it was brilliant. He carefully lays out the process by which you START your journey towards living out your calling.

That's right up my alley!

Here's one point from the book that I'd like to share with you:

"I've never met a farmer who was surprised by his crops. Who stood on a front porch, in overalls I'm assuming, and stared out at a crop of blood oranges when he clearly remembered planting soybeans.
"If you work hard, you tend to expect results."
If you decide that you'll spend ten hours a week on your path to expertise instead of twenty, you'll get there slower than someone who owns the twenty and gets down to business."

Wisdom in the Book of Proverbs

Smart people know they aren't the smartest. That is why they surround themselves with other smart, intelligent, wise people.

"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed." Proverbs 15:22

I firmly believe that.

I know people who have succeeded in life that live by this principle.
