How Do You Know That You Can Be a Leader?

As a leadership coach and speaker, I always encounter many confident people, who have strong convictions, that know they're calling, and try their best to answer that calling.

But at the same time, I encounter a ton of people who are not so confident, don't really have any convictions, and because they don't know they're calling, they can't really live a life of purpose.

One of the main mindsets blocking the second category of people is their limiting belief that some have leadership potential and some don't; You're either born with it or you're not?

Nothing could be further from the truth.

We often mistake charisma for leadership because in the movies and books, and what we see glamorized on TV, the leaders are usually the brave vocal ones.

They're the ones that make all the timely speeches that will pump up the team, motivate the company, and give hope to needy.

Though communication skills are awesome and a prime tool in excelling as a leader, that's not the end of it . . . nor is it the beginning.

You and I both know that in everyone there is a potential leader.

I want you to say that out loud please. . . even if you're reading this in your pajamas or at a coffee shop or wherever.

I want you to declare  the truth:

"In me, there's a leader. I have the potential to be a great leader!"

For some people, that exercise feels natural . . . like a common affirmation. For you, it might have felt a little weird because you don't see yourself that way.

Regardless, the truth remains: inside of you is a leader.

Here's an amazing quote that sums it up:

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams

If you're a parent, you're called to be a leader. If you're a spouse, you're called to be a leader. If you're a minister, you're definitely called to be a leader. If you're an entrepreneur, you're called to be a leader, and on and on.

No matter where you are in life right now, you have a mandate to lead those around you and inspire those people to more

In fact, that's the only reason people call me a leader. It's why you read my stuff. I may not be your favorite person or the best author but I will always inspire you to do more.

That's my prayer for these newsletters, the blogs, the videos, the events I put on. They are meant to pull out more out of you so you have more to give to others.

My calling is to empower leaders like you to live on purpose so that you don't live aimlessly and thrive in everything that you do.

What do you think? I'd love to read what you felt when declaring the truth: That inside of you is a great leader.

Your coach,

Fredy J. Romero
